Creating PowerPoint and HTML Presentations
using Insight® JVA Client 5.0

Purpose:
The following will outline how to create a PowerPoint Presentation or a HTML document using the Insight® JVA Client version 5.0. You cannot accomplish this using the Browser version of Insight.

Outline:
In order to export to a PowerPoint or HTML document in Insight® JVA Client you must first create what Insight calls a presentation. You can only create a presentation from a Group.

Step One: Opening or creating a new group
First you have to start Insight® JVA Client, log in and open the collection of your choice. Then you need to create a new group or open an existing group.

Opening or creating a new group
Click on file

Click on open group to open an existing group or click on new group to create a new group

Quick note:
You do not need to save a new group that you have created in order to generate a PowerPoint or HTML document. However, if you decide to create a new group and save it, depending on your account, you will be able to save this new group to the server so you can easily share and open the group from any location. However if you are not allowed to save it to the server then you will have to save the group locally to the computer you are currently using. The group is saved a .grp file and is very small in size so it can be easily distributed using a floppy disk, email, etc.

Open Group:

Opening an existing group
This is what you see after clicking open group

Opening an existing group located locally
Click on Local Folder to expand it, then click on (browse), navigate to the .grp file you wish to open.

Opening an existing group located on the server
Folders listed above Local Folder are located on the server. Click on the corresponding folder and file to open it.

New Group:
After clicking on New Group, a New Group 1 workspace will appear next to the collection you have opened.

You will want to drag and drop images from the collection workspace to the New Group 1 workspace in order to develop your new group.

Highlight the images you want to add and drag them over to the New Group 1 workspace

You can remove images from the New Group 1 workspace by highlighting them and pressing delete on the keyboard.

At this point you should have your existing Group open or you should have just created your new group. Now you must make a presentation with that group.

Step Two: Creating and saving a Presentation:

Creating a presentation
Click on group then create presentation.

This will open the Image workspace and allow you to organize your presentation

This document will not go in depth on how to use the presentation tools but the following is brief overview explaining how to use the toolbar and save your presentation when it is done.

You can change the order the images are for the presentation by dragging and dropping the images in the presentation thumbnail workspaces that is off to the left.

This is a sample of the presentation thumbnail workspace with the number indicating the images position in the presentation. Simply dragging the images in the thumbnail workspace reorders them.

After you have configured your presentation you now have to save it to the group you were working in previously.

At the bottoms of the thumbnail workspace you will find this menu.
Click on save and close

In the middle of the thumbnail workspace a save dialog box will appear
Name the presentation appropriately and click on Save.

Clicking on the button on the Image workspace toolbar brings you back to the Group workspace.

Step Three: Exporting to PowerPoint or HTML:

Going back to the Group Workspace you will find that the presentation you created has been added to your group.

You will want to highlight the target presentation with a single mouse click and then click on the file menu.
Single click on the presentation and then click on file and then depending on your choice click on export presentation to HTML or export presentation to PowerPoint.

You will then be presented with a choice of out resolutions for your export.

The higher the resolution you choose the larger the export file will be, but the images exported will have greater detail. The resolution choices will vary depending on the collection.

After selecting your resolution of choice you will be prompted for a destination directory for the save files.

Choose a location and a filename for your save files and click on Save.

The Insight® JVA Client will now begin exporting and you will see an indicator icon showing the progression.

When complete you will see a Presentation Export Complete message.

If you go to the target location you choose for your export you will find a folder with the name you choose containing all the files. You will need to keep this folder intact to display your PowerPoint or HTML document in the future.

You can now exit Insight® JVA Client by click on exit and when prompted to save the change to the group or not to.
